Sanity hearing set for TikToker “Mr. Prada,” accused of first-degree murder of therapist

BATON ROUGE — It’s been just over one year since the body of mental health therapist Dr. William Abraham was discovered and Terryon Thomas, known as “Mr. Prada” on TikTok, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. On Oct. 8, 19th JDC Judge Fred Crifasi set a sanity hearing for Thomas for Jan. 28, 2026, at 9 a.m.

A sanity commission was appointed to determine Thomas’ competency to stand trial.

Thomas, a popular TikToker known online as “Mr. Prada,” was charged with the first-degree murder of a Baton Rouge mental health therapist in October 2024. First-degree murder usually means no bond. Plus, Thomas stands accused of fleeing from officers at one scene before fleeing to a different state. That makes him a flight risk, which would add credence to no bond.

In January 2025, he was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, obstruction of justice, aggravated criminal damage to property, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Thomas, 20, pleaded not guilty as charged.

Original story-Oct. 8 2024

Thomas is accused of killing Dr. Abraham and allegedly wrapping the body in a tarp before dumping it along the side of a highway in northern Tangipahoa Parish on Sunday.

Thomas was originally charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice, according to an arrest warrant signed at 9:52 p.m. Oct. 2. But East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore tells UWK that Thomas should have always been charged with first-degree murder.

“Dr. Abraham is over 65 and per the law, kill anyone over the age of 65 and it’s an automatic first-degree murder,” said Moore.

Dr. Abraham was 69-years-old. First-degree murder also allows the district attorney to seek the death penalty, but District Attorney Hillar Moore said given that Thomas just arrived to Baton Rouge yesterday, he cannot say much on the case at this time.

“There are still so many unknowns on this case that my own office and I are trying to learn so it’s premature on my part to comment any further with much detail,” said Moore.

“Very violent” killing

Abraham’s murder was described as particularly brutal. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker called it a “very violent” and “very physical” encounter.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies, with the assistance of East Baton Rouge deputies, searched Thomas’ apartment and found evidence indicating a violent altercation had occurred, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Deputies found a “significant amount of blood” and “multiple sharp objects and other weapons” throughout the apartment, according to the affidavit.

Surveillance video showed Abraham arriving at Thomas’ apartment complex Saturday wearing the same clothes his body was found in Sunday, according to the affidavit. Investigators say that witnesses also saw Thomas “dragging an object wrapped ina blue-colored tarp” down the stairs of his apartment complex and loading it into Abraham’s vehicle.

“I appreciate the work done by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and Crime Lab, Baton Rouge Police Department, U.S. Marshal’s Service and all others involved,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said in a release. “This is an ongoing investigation that will take time to gather further evidence. I hope that this arrest may bring some closure and assurance to friends and family.”

Court documents show that Abraham’s body was wrapped in a gray colored comforter with dark-colored duct taped used to wrap around the body. It goes on to say that the head of the victim was found to be covered with a dark-colored towel and that Abraham “appeared to have sustained blunt-force trauma to the head”.

Deputies say the connection between Thomas and Abraham, as well as the motive for the murder, are still under investigation.

Arrested in Texas

Thomas was named a person of interest days before his arrest and subsequent charge for the murder.

The Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office released photos of Thomas on Monday night, identifying him as a person of interest in Abraham’s case. Sources confirmed to UWK that the surveillance photos were taken at an Academy Sports + Outdoors store in Juban Crossing on Sunday.

The following day, Baton Rouge police attempted to stop a black Lincoln MKZ, registered to Abraham, on North Sherwood Forest Boulevard. The driver, believed to be Thomas, backed into a police vehicle before fleeing the scene. UWK was on-site as the vehicle was later towed away.

Later on Tuesday, Baton Rouge Police issued an arrest warrant for Thomas, charging him with aggravated criminal damage to property, resisting an officer, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Sources in Dallas said a tip from someone who knows Thomas led them to downtown Dallas Tuesday night where he was arrested on a bench in their downtown area without incident.

Thomas is currently being held without bond in the Dallas County Jail, pending transfer back to East Baton Rouge Parish.

Abraham was a well-known therapist in Baton Rouge. A website for his practice states that he had more than “30 years of experience in treating substance abuse, depression, and anxiety.” It describes him as a therapist who provided counseling, psychotherapy, guidance, and psycho-education to couples, individuals, adolescents, and families in the Baton Rouge area.

The website also highlights Abraham’s work with the LGBTQ+ community, helping individuals navigate identity issues, acceptance, and family struggles.

UWK has confirmed that Abraham was arrested in 2015 for allegedly inappropriately touching an 11-year-old boy he was counseling. The boy’s grandmother reported the incident after noticing the boy was visibly upset.

According to court documents, the boy later disclosed to a new therapist that Abraham had touched him inappropriately during a session.

“The juvenile disclosed that while at the accused office and during a therapy session, the accused put his hands down his pants and touched his privates and also laid next to him while he sat on the couch,” the affadavit stated.

Abraham was arrested on March 2, 2015, and posted a $25,000 bond for molestation of a juvenile.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore’s office stated that while there was probable cause for the arrest, officials had to determine whether the evidence was sufficient for conviction beyond a reasonable doubt.

“This matter was under review by my office for approximately two years,” Moore told UWK. “After considering all available evidence, the best interest of the child and the lack of any inculpatory statements by the arrestee, we declined to institute formal charges.”

As is standard in cases of sexual crimes, the victim’s identity was not disclosed.

UWK has confrimed that Thomas was not Abraham’s client who came forward in 2015, and EBRSO says there is no evidence that that he was ever a client of Abraham.
