LIVINGSTON — Two adults and a 13-year-old juvenile were arrested after a traffic stop in Baton Rouge ended with a pursuit through Livingston Parish on Interstate 12.
It was around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 when Baton Rouge Police officers stopped a driver. During that stop though, officials tell UWK that the driver took off and got on Interstate 12 headed into Livingston Parish.
Multiple agencies joined in on the pursuit that reached speeds up to 80 miles an hour. Walker & Livingston Police joined in as well as the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
During the I-12 pursuit, Livingston PD’s Chief Randy Dufrene says officers witnessed “the driver throwing a large amount of presumed narcotics out of the window.”
Chief Dufrene said the vehicle then came to a stop just west of Albany where Derrick Green, Kentavian White and a 13-year-old juvenile were arrested.
The chief said, “The packages recovered from I-12 and additional packages inside the vehicle are believed to be synthetic cannabinoids.”
“The most effective strategy for law enforcement is team work. As a small agency, we have to rely heavily on the assistance from other agencies and occasionally, we get to return the favor. This is a great example of that teamwork,” said Chief Dufrene.
Green and White are in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for numerous felony charges that will include possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The teenager was arrested and released to a guardian.
