Train hits car on Essen Ln. crippling traffic

BATON ROUGE, La. — A train hit a car on Essen Ln. around 5pm bringing traffic to a complete gridlock as people make their way home from work. Shortly before 6pm, traffic started clearing.

EMS confirms there were no injuries in the crash.

The train was stopped on the tracks as officials worked the scene. Essen Ln. traffic was barely moving as drivers tried to find alternate routes by cutting through the backroads to get onto Perkins or Bluebonnet.

It’s unclear what led up to the crash and who is at fault, but thankfully, there are no reported injuries.
