ALBANY — Three people lost their lives Sunday afternoon after a fiery crash on I-12.
It was around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15th when there was a crash between a vehicle and motorhome. Albany Police Chief Boyd Wild said a small vehicle got onto Interstate 12 westbound through an exit ramp near mile marker 32, going against traffic. The driver continued driving eastbound in the westbound lanes and hit an RV head-on. Following the crash, the vehicle caught on fire, trapping three people inside of it.
All three died on the scene. They have been identified as Jamie Pourciau of Albany, Bailey Lassabe of Albany, and her nine-year-old son.
“These are tragic incidents for our community and for the families involved. We ask that everyone continue to keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers,” said Chief Wild.
The driver and passengers of the RV were able to safely exit the motorhome and only had minor injuries.
The triple fatal crash left I-12 closed for roughly six hours as officials investigated and cleaned up the roadway.
