BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers arrested three people early Sunday following a street racing and shooting incident in the 9200 block of Mammoth Avenue.
According to BRPD, officers responded to the scene around 2 a.m. on Nov. 2. While investigating the reported shooting, officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge pickup truck.
A search of the vehicle revealed two stolen firearms, officials said. Detectives with the Major Assaults Division were called to the scene.
Detectives spoke with the driver, identified as Patrick Antoine, and two juvenile passengers. Police said Antoine gave verbal consent for detectives to search the truck.
Items seized from the vehicle included:
- 5.56 American Tactical rifle; confirmed stolen through BRPD
- Glock 22 pistol; confirmed stolen through the Zachary Police Department
Antoine was charged with illegal possession of stolen firearms.
According to police, Antoine has prior arrests for theft, resisting an officer, and illegal possession of Schedule I, II, and IV narcotics.
In addition, BRPD reports that officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle that was believed to be involved in the shooting incident. Further investigation revealed that prior to the stop, one of the vehicle’s occupants, Hazael Munoz, allegedly fired a gunshot at a responding BRPD officer.
The officer was not injured.
Munoz was charged and booked into EBR Parish Prison for attempted first degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and possession of stolen firearm.
Tyler Jackson-Scott was charged and booked into EBR Parish Prison for possession of stolen firearm.
