Officials say shortly after 12:45 p.m., troopers began investigating the two-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 16 near La Hwy 449 in St. Helena Parish.

The crash killed Christopher Koch, 36, from Metairie, and Travis Connell, 51, from Denham Springs.

State police say the investigation revealed Koch was driving a car traveling westbound on LA 16 with Connell as a passenger. At the same time, someone driving a Freightliner was traveling eastbound on the highway.
