EAST BATON ROUGE —- Baton Rouge Police and the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office are both investigating separate homicides that happened overnight. In total, there were three shootings, in which two people died and a third person was injured.
It started around 3 a.m. on Saturday, April 27th at the Longfellow BREC Park on Longfellow Dr., that’s off of Hollywood St. near Plank Rd.
BRPD officers arrived on scene to find Daon Scott, 23, dead on scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
About two hours later around 5:15 a.m., East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Gardere area in the 8700 block of Gsri Rd.
Reginald Riggs, 51, was transported in critical condition but died at the hospital. EBRSO says he was a homeless man.
Two hours later around 7 a.m., BRPD officers went to Broadway and Beech streets for another shooting. A young man was shot and transported to a hospital. His current condition is unknown.
No further details have been provided in any of the three shootings on what led up to them or if any arrests have been made at this time.
