Hammond, La. – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving two men from Hammond.
The single-vehicle accident happened around 12:31 a.m. on Wardline Road just east of Durbin Road on Saturday, January 27, according to Sheriff Daniel Edwards.
During the initial investigation, TPSO says 64-year-old Jimmy Ray Barnes was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country van, heading westbound on Wardline Road when, for some unknown reason, it entered the shoulder of the roadway and lost control before hitting several trees.
Barnes and his passenger, Cleveland Barnes, 58, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team is still investigating this incident.
