Two recent Brusly High graduates involved in overnight crash, one died on scene

WHITE CASTLE, La. — An overnight crash in Iberville Parish involved two recently graduated Brusly High School students. An 18-year-old died on the scene and her passenger is in surgery at this hour.

It was just after 2 a.m. on April 1, 2024 when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on LA 1 near the intersection of Texas Road in Iberville Parish. That’s south of White Castle in Iberville Parish.

Recent Brusly High graduate Khai Alexia Walker, 18, of Brusly, died in the crash and her passenger was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The investigation so far reveals Walker was driving a 2009 Acura TL north on LA 1 near the intersection of Texas Road. At the same time, a 2015 Ford Tow Truck was driving the opposite direction, south on LA 1. For reasons still under investigation, the Acura and the Tow Truck crashed head-on.

After the initial impact, there was a secondary impact between the vehicles, according to State Police.

Troopers said Walker was not buckled at the crash and died at the scene. Her passenger, also a Brusly High graduate, was also unbuckled and sustained serious injuries. She was transported to the hospital in Iberville Parish.

While impairment is unknown, standard toxicology samples will be taken and submitted for analysis, per State Police.

The driver of the Ford Tow Truck was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. This crash is still under investigation.
