Homes are damaged and people are trapped after two tornadoes made landfall in the Southport Blvd. Subdivision area of New Iberia.
The Iberia Medical Center hospital has also sustained a significant amount of damage. Live wires are down and in the road so they are asking everyone to stay clear of the area.
The New Iberia Police Department said NIPD, NIFD, State Police, and IPSO are on scene.
Rescue efforts are underway, but all civilians need to avoid the area.
There is a temporary shelter set up at the New Iberia Senior High gym that has officers and medical staff.
