Central: Crash on Greenwell Springs Rd. leaves driver in critical condition

CENTRAL — Central Police now say no one died in the two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon on Greenwell Springs Rd.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on Greenwell Springs Rd. at JL Fairchilds Rd. That’s between Hooper Rd. and Denham Rd.

Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran said that the driver of a black sedan crossed the center line and collided head on with another vehicle in the opposite lane.

Officials originally told UWK the driver of the black sedan died at the scene. Central has now corrected that statement saying the driver was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the other vehicle was also rushed to the hospital and has moderate injuries.

As of 8 p.m., Greenwell Springs Rd. reopened.
