BATON ROUGE — An East Baton Rouge Parish prison deputy is facing charges of malfeasance in office and bringing drugs into a prison.
Tybracia Gibson, 26, was hired in 2019 with EBRSO and was terminated just before her arrest on Oct. 3.
According to an affidavit, investigators with the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office had been monitoring phone calls in which an inmate, Rashawn Alexander, was allegedly instructing his brother, Rashine Alexander, to call a woman at a particular number.
Investigators later learned that number was registered to Gibson, who was assigned to central booking at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
After her arrest, Gibson told investigators that she had a relationship with Rashawn Alexander going back several years before his incarceration in 2024.
After Alexander was arrested, Gibson alleges that he began sending her money via Cashapp or Apple Pay, requesting that she bring unknown contraband into the prison.
Gibson told investigators she brought envelopes containing unknown contraband into the prison on three occasions.
She alleged she met with Rashine Alexander, whom she didn’t know, to receive the envelopes each time.
Gibson is also accused of providing information to Alexander about an inmate who was planning to testify against Alexander, which resulted in the arrest and re-booking of both Alexander and that inmate.
Gibson is charged with one count of malfeasance in office and three counts of entering contraband into a penal facility.
