Difference Makers: Universal Pictures will fulfill father’s last wish for his daughter

Not even 24 hours since the initial article, Universal Pictures has now set up a way for Julie to be able to fulfill her last wish: watch the latest Minions movie in her own home.

Ralph Williams told Unfiltered with Kiran on Monday, July 25th (READ NOW) that they discovered his daughter Julie Bourque, 40, had stage 3B kidney disease about a year and a half ago. It quickly progressed and now is at stage four.

Bourque is a huge fan of the Minions movie franchise. Right now, Bourque is fighting against time and her wish is to watch the latest Minion movie but she can’t leave her home.

Her dad said, “She is confined to a bed. We do have oxygen bottles in case of an emergency and if she needs to be transported. She cannot sit in a chair.”

Since the original article, several people have reached out hoping to turn Bourque’s wish into reality.

“I do the marketing for Celebrity Theaters, and jumped on Facebook for one reason or another, when I saw Kiran had made a post 20 minute prior about a father’s hope to fulfill his daughter’s dying wish,” said Katie Valenciano, marketing manager for Celebrity Theatres.

“I don’t even think it mentioned a movie in the headline, but I clicked it. I honestly don’t even think I read the whole article before I messaged Ralph and Kiran to call me with details – I had to make this happen for Julie. We are the only locally owned & operated theatre in the area, while the other local companies are corporately owned, so the likelihood of them catching wind was slim to none. I immediately reached out to our booking agent, who connected me with Universal and the rest fell into place!” said Valenciano.

So now, Universal will send Williams a link allowing him to access the movie at home.

“I’m overwhelmed,” said Williams. “I’m just so excited for Julie.”

“I am just so happy it worked out and that Universal jumped on board to fulfill Julie’s last wish. It says a lot about her true character and that it’s the simple things in life that bring true happiness,” said Valenciano.

Bouque plans to watch the new Minions movie on Wednesday, July 27th with her dad. Valenciano via Celebrity Theatre will be providing concessions.

Several people offered to buy out a movie screening to ensure Bourque had a private screening. Valenciano offered a private screening at their theatre, but Bourque could not leave home.

Baton Rouge General even offered to pick up Bourque from her parents’ home in an ambulance with oxygen tanks, take her to the theatre, stay with her throughout the movie and then take her back home in the ambulance to ensure her comfort. However, Bourque’s current condition would not allow her to do that so the family had to pass.

To everyone who has offered and prayed to make Bourque’s wish come true, thank you so very much!
