Jonathan D. Young, 22, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
It comes after East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call where a wife said “her husband was the shooter involved in the shooting.”
The shooting happened on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 6:15pm in the parking lot at the corner of George O’Neal Rd. & O’Neal Ln.
Deputies learned Young was putting groceries in a dark blue sedan when he and the victim got into an argument. The victim was waiting in the car in the parking lot with his two children, both younger than 10.
Officials said that’s when Young said “I will shoot you with a gun” and went to his vehicle and got a gun.

Deputies said as Young started walking towards the victim’s car with the gun in his right hand, the victim got his gun out of the center console. That’s when Young started walking backwards but “appeared to be raising his right arm,” according to his arresting documents.
It’s why the victim shot. The argument continued and Young eventually got his car and was transported to an area hospital by private vehicle.
The victim’s vehicle was struck multiple times by bullets.
The victim’s story was confirmed through surveillance video and witness statements.
Today, Young was released from the hospital for his gunshot injuries and arrested immediately.
