Vehicle recovered after Thursday’s shooting & carjacking at gunpoint

BATON ROUGE — The search for a stolen vehicle ended in the Mall City area.

It comes after a shooting and carjacking Thursday evening around 8:30pm just half a mile from the Baton Rouge Police Headquarters.

Two men were in a car in front of the Fountain Motel on Airline Hwy. when they got into an argument. The passenger in the car is said to have gotten out of the vehicle and went to the driver side and fired off several rounds.

The victim took six bullets and was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

After that, the suspect, according to sources, fled to a nearby car dealership where he held a woman at gunpoint. Sources added the suspect then stole her vehicle.

That stolen vehicle was later found in the Mall City area vacant and it’s unclear where the female driver of that vehicle went.
