The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection to a shooting on O’Neal Lane from Tuesday, July 19th.
Deputies said Roy Haynes, 31, of Baton Rouge allegedly showed up at the victim’s apartment at 3431 O’Neal Lane around 6pm. The victim told deputies Haynes is her ex-boyfriend having dated on and off over the last few years.
Haynes allegedly showed up at the victim’s apartment where the two got into an argument and he allegedly shot her once in the shoulder.
The victim told deputies “as she was lying on the floor, she played dead in fear that Haynes might shoot her a second time.” That’s when Haynes allegedly went to the bedroom where she victim was on the ground and “kick her in the stomach as she was lying on the floor.”
During the alleged incident, two children were also in the apartment, a 9-yr-old & 15-yr-old.
During the investigation, deputies did find one a spent 9mm shell casing in the bedroom where the victim said she was shot.
Deputies said because Haynes was arrested and convicted in 2015 for false imprisonment with a weapon, he was prohibited from carrying a gun.
It’s why in addition to one count of attempt second-degree murder, Haynes is also charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
