BATON ROUGE – Walk-On’s, the locally-based restaurant chain, is helping to support LSU safety Greg Brooks Jr.
The restaurant is donating 10 percent of all profits from area restaurants that will go to the Brooks family to help with medical expenses.
Brooks played the first two games of the football season when he found out he had a mass in his head and underwent an emergency surgery on Sept. 15.
The safety was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma.
Medulloblastoma is a cancerous brain tumor that starts in the cerebellum, located in the back of the skull. It is involved in muscle coordination, balance, and movement.
Since news of his condition became public, the Greg Brooks, Jr. Victory Fund, established to pay for his medical bills, has raised over $100,000.
Brooks was transferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis last week, where he is scheduled to undergo a second procedure soon.
The Walk-On’s locations in Baton Rouge, Towne Center, Denham Springs, Prairieville, and Gonzales will participate in the giveback event.
