East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies and St. George firefighters responded to the Walmart on Burbank Dr. & Bluebonnet around 5pm for a loud “boom”.
Employees reported hearing a “loud bang with alarms” but when officials arrived, they did not find any smoke or fire.
St. George said the call came in as a possible property fire but they did not find any evidence of a fire. Instead, firefighters say it was the sprinkler system malfunctioning.

The Walmart was shut down as a precautionary measure but as of 5:30pm, deputies and firefighters were clearing the scene and the store was re-opening to customers.
No one was injured.
