LIVINGSTON PARISH – A barricaded gunman inside a home in Watson ended with the suspect shooting himself, according to LPSP. Livingston officials identified the man as Rocky Lecamus, 39, of Denham Springs.

“LPSO located the stolen vehicle at that address,” said Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard. “The suspect was confirmed to be inside the home but refused to exit. To evade capture, Lecamus fired shots at LPSO deputies. No one was injured at that time.”

It comes after Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies went to execute a search warrant at a home on Austin Dr. in Watson Saturday morning around 10am. That’s when someone inside the home fired a shot at the deputies.

He then barricaded himself in the home. It’s why LPSO’s SWAT team was called out to the scene and homeowners were being asked to stay indoors if they live on Springfield Rd.

That came after the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office asked people in the Smithfield Rd. area between Hwy. 447 North and Reinninger Rd. to stay indoors after a gunman barricaded himself in a home on Austin Dr. in Watson.

“Lecamus refused to speak with LPSO negotiators & refused all attempts to negotiate a peaceful resolution. After an hours-long standoff, the suspect died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said Sheriff Ard.

Homes in the immediate vicinity of where the gunman was barricaded were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

People in the area told UWK they heard deputies yelling a name through a loud speaker and then said they heard what they believe to be gunshots.
