WBR: Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash

PORT ALLEN — Louisiana State Police is investigating a crash involving two vehicles and motorcycle that happened in West Baton Rouge Parish that killed a 58-yr-old man.

The wreck was on Poydras Bayou Dr. near Hwy. 190 around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Pleasant Rushing, 58, of Torbert, died in the crash.

The initial investigation shows that a 2023 Hyundai Palisade was headed south on Poydras Bayou Dr. At the same time, Rushing was headed the opposite direction in a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 motorcycle.

When the driver of the Hyundai attempted to make a left turn into a private drive, the motorcycle hit the passenger rear side, according to LSP.

As a result of the impact, Rushing was ejected from the motorcycle, into the roadway. While in the roadway, Rushing was hit by a 2019 Ford Fusion that was headed north on Poydras Bayou.

Rushing was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash and died due to his injuries at the scene.

The drivers of the Hyundai and Ford were buckled and did not have any injuries.
