WBR deputy fired after arrest for murder and feticide

PORT ALLEN — The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office fired a WBR deputy after he was arrested over the weekend accused of shooting & killing a pregnant woman and her unborn baby.

The shooting was around 12:30am on Sunday, April 16th on N. Carrollton Ave. Kerisha Johnson, 36, was attempting to pick up a friend from a party when dozens of shots were fired.

Johnson and her unborn baby died in her vehicle. Johnson was due any day with her baby.

A second person was also shot and called for help from about half a mile from the original scene. They were taken to a hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Baton Rouge Police did arrest three 19-yr-olds in connection to the double shooting and Johnson’s murder.

Marques Porch, 19, Gregory Parker, 19, and Derrick Curry, 19, were all arrested and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree feticide.

Porch had been a WBR Sheriff’s deputy since 2022 until he was fired on April 16th after his arrest.

WBRSO confirmed “Marques Porch was immediately terminated upon notification of his arrest.”

Porch was a full-time corrections deputy with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office from June-Nov. 2022. He parted ways from WBRSO to work elsewhere but then returned to the WBRSO corrections part-time in Feb. 2023 till his termination.
