WEST BATON ROUGE — Louisiana State Police are investigating after a fatal rear-end crash involving a delivery truck Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. on Rosedale Rd. between La. 1 and Hwy. 415. Investigators say the vehicle’s driver, 66-year-old Jerry Lee Scott, was driving a 2017 Nissan Sentra and slammed into the back of a 2022 delivery truck.
Troopers say the delivery truck was headed east on Rosedale Rd. and slowed down to made a left turn. For reasons still under investigation, Scott failed to stop.
Scott, who was from Port Allen, was not buckled at the time of the crash and died on the scene.
The delivery truck driver was not injured.
Rosedale Rd. between La. 1 and Hwy. 415 was shut down while Troopers investigated. The roadway was reopened around 3 p.m.
