WBR Sheriff’s Office: Suspect wanted shoots himself in Port Allen

The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office investigates a shooting in Port Allen. Deputies say the man was wanted by another jurisdiction and shot himself once they arrived on Monday, February 12, 2024.

PORT ALLEN, La. – The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Port Allen.

It happened on Monday afternoon in the 2700-block of South Westport Drive. According to WBRSO, deputies were responding to the location about a suspect possibly wanted from another jurisdiction.


Once sheriff’s deputies made contact with the man, officials say he shot himself. The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His condition is not known.

The incident remains under investigation.
