PORT ALLEN — What started as a West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputy attempting to stop a driver led to a pursuit with the driver crashing and being taken to a hospital for his injuries.
It was around 9 p.m. when a WBRSO deputy attempted a traffic stop along Hwy. 190 for a traffic stop. The driver initially pulled over and was in contact with the deputy, but when a Pointe Coupee K9 deputy arrived, the driver took off in his Mustang, according to WBRSO. When he fled, deputies say the K9 deputy was almost struck and was forced to move out of the way to avoid being hit.
There was a short chase which ended when the driver crashed his car while exiting eastbound 190 onto Hwy. 415. He was taken to a hospital for his injuries. He has since been released and arrested.
The man has been identified as 21-year-oild Jordan Vegarosas of Los Angeles, CA. He’s charged with aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated assault, resisting an officer, and simple possession of marijuana.
