PORT ALLEN — Former Port Allen Mayor Derek Lewis has bonded out of the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center after his arrest nearly two weeks ago on charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile, third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. His bond was set at $250,000.
West Baton Rouge detectives began investigating Lewis after receiving a tip alleging sexual misconduct between Lewis and a juvenile at the workplace. Through their investigation, detectives learned that Lewis allegedly provided alcohol to the juvenile and engaged in indecent behavior.
He was arrested on Aug. 12 and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
• Indecent behavior with a juvenile
• Contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile
As of August 25, Lewis has bonded out of jail.
Officials have also arrested Wyennetti Williams, 67, of Port Allen and charged her with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
The investigation is ongoing.
Lewis was previously sentenced to 40 months in prison in June 2012 after he pled guilty to violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act while serving as the Port Allen mayor. He was one of several public officials convicted in Operation Blighted Officials by the FBI.
