DENVER, Colo. — U.S. Marshals arrested a 43-year-old man in Colorado, who was wanted in two parishes. James Connolly was wanted in West Baton Rouge for first-degree rape of a child under 13 and in Livingston Parish for felony aggravated crimes against nature.
Connolly was arrested in the Denver area on Dec. 9 by Deputy U.S. Marshals, with the assistance of multiple local agencies.
In August this year, West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s (WBRSO) detectives began investigating claims that Connolly had raped a child on multiple occasions. An arrest warrant for Connolly was issued on Aug. 12, according to the U.S. Marshals’ release.
According to officials, Connolly allegedly fled the state after learning of the warrant, and WBRSO contacted the U.S. Marshal’s Service for assistance in locating Connolly.
On Monday, Dec. 8, the U.S. Marshals’ Colorado Violent Offender Task Force received new information that Connolly was in the Denver metro area, working in maintenance for a business near the city.
Multiple agencies set up surveillance near the business’s location on Dec. 9, and Connolly was arrested when he drove into work. He is currently in the Adams County Jail on both the West Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish charges, awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
According to U.S. Marshals, Connolly was using an alias of “Alli” and had significantly changed his physical appearance.
First-degree rape of a child under 13 carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
