PORT ALLEN — Three individuals from Baton Rouge crossed into West Baton Rouge Parish to allegedly break into multiple vehicles. West Baton Rouge deputies say they’re investigating 14 vehicle burglaries in Port Allen where the cars were damaged with items stolen from inside of them early Monday morning, July 28th, around 3:40 a.m.
The trio arrested in connection to the vehicle burglaries in Port Allen includes Jeremiah Turner, 18, Donovan Hayes Jr., 23, and a 14-year-old juvenile, whose name cannot be released due to his age. Officials say all three are from Baton Rouge.
Deputies say the 14 vehicle burglaries spanned two hotel properties along the Hwy. 415 & Lobdell corridor. Windows were shattered on the vehicles and two guns were stolen out of the cars. In fact, deputies added the vehicle seen fleeing the scene, a Ford Fusion, was later confirmed stolen out of Jefferson Parish.
Turner and Hayes were booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
JEREMIAH TURNER
• 14 counts of aggravated burglary
• 14 counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles
• Flight from an officer
• Illegal possession of stolen things
DONOVAN HAYES JR.
• 14 counts of aggravated burglary
• 14 counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles
The 14-year-old juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility and booked on:
• 12 counts of aggravated burglary
Turner and Hayes remain behind bars and a bond has not been set at this time.
“Let this be a clear message: if you come into West Baton Rouge Parish to commit crimes, we will find you and we will hold you accountable,” said West Baton Rouge Sheriff Jeff Bergeron. “I commend our deputies for their swift work and thank the Port Allen Police Department for their valued assistance in bringing these suspects to justice.”
