BATON ROUGE — As Thanksgiving approaches, the spirit of giving is shining brightly across Baton Rouge. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a hot holiday meal or hoping to volunteer your time to help others, several community groups and restaurants are opening their doors to ensure no one goes without a plate this season.

Free Community Thanksgiving Meals
Feed the Homeless Thanksgiving Feast
S.E.A.D. of Louisiana and BRAREB are teaming up to serve a hot, catered Thanksgiving meal for those experiencing homelessness. The feast takes place Tuesday, Nov. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at 1618 Blance Court, just off 16th Street near Government.
Organizers are inviting volunteers and donations to keep the holiday tradition alive. Those interested can call 985-514-1482 for details.
Agape Center of Hope & Encounter Church Community Meal
Warm fellowship and a free Thanksgiving plate will be available Thursday, Nov. 27 at the Agape Center of Hope and Encounter Church. The community meal runs from 10 a.m. to noon at 12112 Florida Boulevard and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
District 7 Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway
Councilwoman Twahna P. Harris is spreading holiday cheer with a turkey and trimmings giveaway for District 7 residents. The event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25 from noon to 2 p.m. at the MLK Community Center at 4000 Gus Young Avenue.
Those wishing to participate must register at the community center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The final day to sign up is Monday, Nov. 17. Participants must bring proof of residency and a photo ID. This giveaway is exclusively for District 7 families.
New Hopeful Worship Center Meal Giveaway
New Hopeful Worship Center is preparing 50 Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 1357 Florida Boulevard.
