BATON ROUGE — A woman smashed two windows at Baton Rouge Police headquarters overnight Thursday with a large chunk of concrete. She damaged a third window and a glass door, police records show.
The woman, who was arrested a block away, was booked with hate crimes, aggravated criminal damage to property, battery on a police officer and misrepresentation during booking.
Crystal Lee Moore, 35, is also accused of kicking an officer in the leg during the booking process, according to police records.
Around 2:45 a.m. Friday, Moore threw a large piece of concrete at the building’s glass front door. The door was damaged but did not break, arrest records show. Moore then allegedly used the concrete to shatter two windows and damage a third.
Then she ran away, police say.
Moore was arrested nearby a short time later. An arrest warrant said “Moore expressed she hates police and that police are constantly doing things wrong to her.”
“Moore continued to scream and yell at officers many different explicit and vulgar things,” the warrant said.
She would not identify herself, but officers recognized her from “previous police encounter.”
Moore was previously arrested June 28 in a different attack on a police officer. In that case, the officer said he had to swerve around her because she was standing in the road at Airline Highway and Old Hammond Highway.
“She flipped the affiant off and began walking down the roadway,” that arresting document said.
The officer said he was afraid she might have been suicidal because she was standing in the street. When he tried to detain her, she “turned around and slapped affiant two times, once on each side of the face,” the affidavit said. “Affiant deployed his department-issued Taser and compliance was gained.”
