Woman arrested in Millard case wanted in $100K burglary

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police got warrants Friday to arrest three people in a burglary in which more than $100,000 worth of tools were stolen, along with other items. One of the suspects is a woman previously arrested in the Nathan Millard case.

The burglary happened at a house on Lochness Avenue, near the intersection of Staring Lane and Highland Road, between Sept. 17 and Sept. 24, the warrants show. The resident was out of town at the time.

Although the burglars stole, moved or damaged several parts of the home’s security system, they left behind a single digital memory card from one of the security cameras, giving police video of the crime, the warrants said.

The items reported stolen included 3-D printers, laser engravers and other “sophisticated machining equipment,” the warrants said. At least two guns and a box of Cap’n Crunch cereal were also taken, the warrants said.

The video on the memory card that the burglars didn’t take is what helped police identify the suspects. According to the warrants, the individuals had previously been removed from the house in August at the request of the resident. The officer who had removed them in August recognized them on the burglary video.

Tabbetha Barner, 36, is wanted on charges of aggravated burglary with a dangerous weapon, simple criminal damage to property, theft, tampering with surveillance and two counts of theft of a firearm.

Barner was arrested in 2023 on prostitution and failure to seek assistance for Nathan Millard when he overdosed and died while visiting Baton Rouge on business. Barner was one of the sex workers Millard, who lived in Georgia, was with on the night he died. A judge threw out the charge of failure to seek assistance, and Barner was later sentenced to 90 days in Parish Prison on the prostitution charge.

Millard’s body was found at defunct funeral home wrapped in a rug.

Frederick Raby, 31 is wanted on the same charges as Barner and also a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was arrested after being removed from the house on Aug. 31 because he had an outstanding arrest warrant but he was later released from jail, the warrant said.

Sarah Wright, 35, is wanted on the same charges as Barner. She was also wanted on a probation violation related to a previous burglary conviction, the warrant said.

Police said that the burglars had broken a window, used a prybar to break into the front door and broke a latch on the back fence. The burglars also broke, unplugged, moved or removed several video cameras at the house, the warrants said.
