BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police launched an investigation after social media threats toward the agency were posted online following an officer-involved shooting on April 20. The shooting happened at the Super 6 Inn & Suites on Gwenadele Ave., just off Airline Highway after officers were called for a disturbance. The shooting left one person dead after gunfire was exchanged between the deceased suspect and BRPD officers.
While investigating the threats on social media, BRPD detectives learned that Yushika Vallian, 31, and other unidentified subjects, arrived at the Super 6 Motel, allegedly forced their way into the manager’s office and assaulted the motel manager.
Detectives got an arrest warrant for Vallian on April 22, who officials say was a participant in the unauthorized entry of a business and simple battery.
Vallian was found in Opelousas and arrested as a fugitive by St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputies. She was booked into their jail and will be extradited to Baton Rouge, where she is facing additional charges for the terroristic threats on social media toward BRPD, officials said.
Per standard procedure, the two officers involved in the April 20th shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. No officers were injured in the shooting.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
