DARROW — A Darrow woman pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of 45-year-old Mark Perkins.
On June 9, Kendra Washington entered a guilty plea in court for the 2024 shooting.
Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Darrow home on June 15, 2024, in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered Perkins laying outside the home’s front steps with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but later died of his injuries.
When questioned by detectives, Washington gave multiple different versions of events, according to the district attorney’s office. She later confessed to deputies that she shot Perkins after an argument. She was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on the charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons..
Sentencing is scheduled for later this year. Washington faces up to 40 years in state prison for the charge.
