Woman shot and killed during a vehicle burglary in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE — It was around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when a woman was shot after confronting someone during her own vehicle’s burglary.

Roneisha Truvillion, 29, was shot in the 1100 block of Spanishtown Rd. in Baton Rouge on June 4, 2024.

Baton Rouge Police say Truvillion noticed some people breaking into her vehicle and when she went outside to confront them, they fired off several shots.

Truvillion was hit and transported to a hospital, but later died from her injuries.

She was 29 years old and leaves behind three sons and her fiancé. The case remains under investigation and no further details have been released at this time into the woman shot during the burglary.

Earlier the same day around 4:30 p.m., there was another shooting in the 1900 block of Kansas St. where a 21-yr-old was shot and killed. James Caples was shot and transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Anyone with any information on either homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
