Baton Rouge Police officers are investigating a woman found dead in a vehicle that someone attempted to burn hours after he allegedly choked a woman, beat her & stabbed her.
Baton Rouge Police said Earl Lee Johnson Jr., 35, allegedly stabbed Janice David, 34, during a Facebook live on April 18, 2022 during the day. Police said Johnson had been with David for a few days, possibly involved in drugs together.
It was reported to Facebook, who reported it to the Louisiana State Police, who gave it to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, who then told Baton Rouge Police since it happened on S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., which is inside the city limits of Baton Rouge.
Then, police said around 5pm, Johnson allegedly stole someone’s car. That victim notified police. After a chase, Johnson was arrested, but at the time of his arrest, police did not know about the FB live video yet. It’s an act police said was “very gruesome & evil act.”
Just before 10pm, officers responded to the 3600 block of S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. for a vehicle someone attempted to burn with a dead woman in the front passenger seat of the car.

During his arrest, sources said Johnson admitted to the killing and is now being charged with first-degree murder. Sources added the woman may have stolen money from him.
Sources said David’s hands appeared to be tied together and she was naked when officials found her. Unfiltered with Kiran is also told David had over a dozen stab wounds just to head. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson allegedly went on a crime spree earlier in the day and then ended up in a hospital for his injuries.
