Zachary man killed in two-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle crash in East Baton Rouge Parish claimed a Zachary man’s life Wednesday evening on June 22, 2022.

State police say Lamontache Williams, 45, was killed in the crash on Hwy 61 north of Thomas Rd. shortly after 9 p.m.

Officials say Williams was driving a GMC SUV northbound on Hwy 61 when a Mack dump truck was riding north on the highway ahead of Williams.

Troopers say Williams hit the back of the dump truck and the impact caused his vehicle to travel east on the highway. Officials say they are still investigating what caused the accident.

Williams was not restrained at the time of the crash and died on the scene. The dump truck driver had a seatbelt on and didn’t sustain any injuries.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Williams and will be submitted for analysis.
