The Zachary Police Department arrested a pair of suspects allegedly involved in an Ascension Parish shooting as well as burglaries in Prairieville and Zachary.
Authorities arrested Jacolby Lockett and Keylon Robinson in connection with the incidents. Lockett was charged with simple burglary, illegal possession of stolen things, and fugitive from Allen Parish.
Robinson was charged with simple burglary, illegal possession of stolen things, illegal carrying of a weapon and resisting an officer.
Zachary police say officers were dispatched to Cedar Trail Avenue on Jan. 3 at approximately 2:30 a.m. regarding a vehicle burglary. Officers located the two suspects on foot. Following a short pursuit, officers apprehended both suspects without incident.
Police confiscated three guns during the investigation. Officials say the suspects admitted one of the guns was stolen from a vehicle that same night.
Officers discovered the suspect’s vehicle was reported stolen in Baton Rouge on Dec. 30, 2022.
Zachary Police Department officers booked Lockett and Robinson into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The same evening, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit contacted Zachary Police Department and informed officers that the arrestees apprehended by our heroes were suspects in a shooting that occurred on Jan. 2 in Ascension.
Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office officials said it appeared two suspects were breaking into a vehicle when the homeowner noticed. When the homeowner went outside, the suspects fled in their own vehicle. While fleeing, one of them fired multiple rounds hitting the homeowner’s wife.
She was grazed by a bullet and she did take herself to a hospital. She had non-life-threatening injuries.
