Zachary PD’s Facebook page hacked

Zachary Police Chief David McDavid said he is aware that their Facebook page has been hacked.

“It happened a few days ago and we’re in the process of trying to get it restored through Facebook, but it has not been an easy task,” said McDavid.

It appears the page has been deactivated until Facebook officials can restore the original owner and remove the hacked account.

The profile picture has been changed and a gaming video creator has now taken over the page.

In a day and age of social media first, their Facebook page is what the police department uses to alert Zachary residents of any issues including crime.

“We are investigating whether we can press charges or not and if so, to what agency? It could be the state police or attorney general’s office but we are for sure looking into that option,” said McDavid.

Along with the police department page, McDavid said his campaign page for Zachary Mayor was also hacked.
