ZACHARY —- A pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday evening on Plank Rd. He has been identified as 68-year-old Leon McKneely, of Zachary.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27th in the 23800 block of Plank Rd. just north of Port Hudson-Pride Rd.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a 2009 Ford Fusion was driving north on Plank Rd. near Wilmore Drive. At the same time, McKneely was walking in the northbound lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford’s driver hit McKneely in the center of the northbound lane.
McKneely died on the scene. The driver of the Ford was not buckled and was not injured, per State Police. Troopers added that impairment is not suspected and that routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
