Entergy says the customers in Ascension and East Baton Rouge Parishes who were impacted by a major outage earlier this afternoon, should be restored as of 2 p.m.
The outages, which impacted, Gonzales, Prairieville and other surrounding areas left over 12,000 customers in the dark.
“The outage was related to an issue on the transmission system that crews are still working to identify,” said an Entergy spokesperson.
According to the Entergy outage map, there are 7,997 affected by different outages in Ascension and East Baton Rouge Parishes as of 2:58 p.m. on Sept. 12.
Unrelated to this specific outage, thousands of people are without power in Central as well. It’s near the intersection of Blackwater and Hooper after a tree fell on a powerline.
Entergy said they’re working to get the area restored as soon as possible.
