I-10 wreck in Ascension Parish kills 60-yr-old

GONZALES —- The Louisiana State Police is investigating a deadly wreck in Ascension Parish that left a Baton Rouge man dead.

The accident happened Saturday, Aug. 5 around 6pm on I-10 west of Hwy. 30 in Ascension Parish.

State Police troopers say 60-year-old Daniel Lenoir, Jr. of Baton Rouge, died in a single-vehicle crash.

The initial investigation reveals that Lenoir was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla headed west on Interstate 10. For reasons still under investigation, Lenoir veered to the right, overcorrected to the left, and hit a tree after exiting the roadway.

The impact ejected Lenoir from his car.

Lenoir, who was not buckled at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital, but did not survive his injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was taken from Lenoir and will be submitted for analysis.
