Livingston Parish officials plead with governor to assist with "dire" Killian water crisis

KILLIAN -- Livingston Parish officials are pleading with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry and other state officials to provide assistance to Killian. The entire village has been without water since Wednesday ...and residents have been dealing with a boil water order for over a week.

Parish President Randy Delatte has 6,000 gallon tankers feeding water to residents, but it's an expensive and timely process.

"Our parish and our local leaders have banded together to fight this," Livingston Parish councilman Dean Coates told UWK. "We're trying to get our state counterparts to partner with us. This is a very, very dire situation."

Coates says it's costing the parish roughly $30,000 every day to provide water for residents in Killian. It's an expense that the parish can't keep up with. He's pushing for the governor to open up state resources.
