UPDATE: Funeral arrangements have been set for Tonyetta Loveless, who was found dead in her apartment the day after celebrating her 42nd birthday.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9 at MJB Friendly Funeral Home in Denham Springs.
Her family is asking everyone to wear purple and white.

BATON ROUGE — Tonyetta Loveless had just celebrated her 42nd birthday on Nov. 28th. The next day, her father and daughter kept calling to find out how her birthday went. When she didn’t answer, the father went to her apartment and found her body inside.
“She left behind 4 kids, two boys and two girls. I’m her oldest girl and the backbone of the family and the mom now,” Trinia Loveless told Unfiltered with Kiran. “She was an amazing woman, very loving, very caring, very helpful, outgoing, just very special. The vibe was unmatched. Everybody loved Tonyetta. There was never a dull moment with her. She will be truly missed by many.”
Tonyetta Loveless was found around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 29 inside an apartment at the Ivy Apartments on Jones Creek Rd. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies say witnesses advised them that Loveless and her boyfriend, Andre Weatherspoon, 39, were heard arguing in the parking lot the night before, Nov. 28. Witnesses added that Weatherspoon was seen “brandishing a gun at her.”
A warrant is now out for Weatherspoon’s arrest for battery of a dating partner and to further question him about Loveless. A check of Weatherspoon’s criminal history reveals he had been arrested numerous times for various charges over the years, including domestic abuse battery, aggravated second-degree battery, and simple battery. In 2007, he was sentenced to 10 years after he pleaded guilty to a burglary at a gas station on Millerville in 2004. However, due to time already served and course credits, he was released from prison in 2018.
“The guy portrayed an image like he was something he wasn’t,” said Tonyetta’s daughter, Trinia Loveless. “To other people, he was the perfect match for her, but to me, he always gave an off vibe, and I just knew something wasn’t right, but you know, you can’t tell people who to date nowadays or who to choose to love. One thing about Tonyetta, she did actually love him and had a really good heart with him.”
Trinia added that her mother and Weatherspoon had been dating for roughly six months but had known each other for years, even having gone to school together. With her birthday having been the night before, Trinia said she and her grandfather were calling the next day to see how her birthday went.
“She wasn’t answering either one of us, and that’s not like her. One thing about her, she’ll send a text that she’ll call back if she’s busy, so we knew something was off,” Trinia explained. So my grandpa, who was closest, just said, ‘I’m going to go by and see if she’s okay.’ I thought, ‘Lord, please let everything be okay.’ He went by there and was on the phone with me the whole time. I was actually on my way headed over there as well, but he was closer. He said he was knocking on the door, but no answer. He didn’t see her car, which was off, too, because she would usually be right there. He twisted the door to see if the door was unlocked, and that’s when he found her body lying on the couch.”
Trinia tells UWK that she immediately called 911, and her worst nightmare was confirmed by the time she got on the scene. Now, Trinia, her three siblings, and all of Tonyetta’s family are trying to come to terms with a harsh reality.
“I can’t believe it. We just all didn’t see this coming. One thing about my momma, she’s not the type to go down without a fight so…,” said Trinia Loveless.
She added her mother was not married and that her grandmother (Tonyetta’s mother) had just passed away in August 2023, which is now giving the family some comfort.
“They both up there together. My grandmother up there with her daughter,” said Trinia.
Meanwhile, Tonyetta’s sister Karlie Golden also spoke to UWK.
“She would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. She was a “on all 10 toes” type of woman, that we know she didn’t go down without a fight. She was a fighter!! Words being exchanged from a trip made him kill her?! I want to believe my sister gave him a run for his money during that fight, and he felt he had no other choice but to kill her. I pray justice is served for my sister. No way a coward should be allowed to roam the streets peacefully,” said Golden. “She has a beautiful spirit, personality, and a smile that lit up the room. She’s home with her mother now. Rest beautifully My Angel.”
